Due to restrictions for health and safety reasons, we ask that all treats shared for birthdays adhere to our Wellness Policy. Please see the Approved Snacks list, located under Food & Nutrition Services, for items that may be brought to class.  

1. Utilize our Staff Directory to find your child's teacher and use the attached link to send an email. 
2. From your HAC account, you may click on the teacher's name to start a direct-connect email.
3. All SPS email addresses are the first name and last name @spsk12.net.
   Example: johnsmith@spsk12.net
4. You may also call the school and leave a message, and the teacher will return your call during non-instructional time.

School Bus Tracker monitors the location of school buses as they travel their routes across the city. By connecting to the Parent Portal, you can see how close the bus is to the bus stop. The Parent Portal is available for all students assigned a bus stop.

For information from particular staff members, including teachers or teacher assistants, please utilize email.  The format is firstnamelastname@spsk12.net.  Please also keep your email up-to-date in HAC by creating a HAC account or contacting your child's teacher or the front office in order to receive e-flyers and other important information.  

Class Dojo

Many teachers utilize class dojo in their classrooms to share a wide variety of information.  The school story can be used to share updates, flyers, and etc.  

Peachjar

Peachjar is an electronic flyer (e-flyer) dissemination online service which is free for families to receive announcements from their child’s school and community enrichment organizations. E-flyers are posted on each school’s webpage for easy access and emailed directly to parents’ and guardians’ inboxes. Paper flyers from outside organizations will no longer be distributed.

Home Access Center, or HAC, is the parent side of TAC, where teachers input grades and generate progress reports and report cards.  HAC is available 24/7, and provides instant and up-to-date information for parents and guardians.  

With access to HAC, a parent or guardian is able to:

• view student's grades
• sign up to receive alerts for low grades
• view past report cards and progress reports
• view absences and tardies
• email teachers directly 

To simply access HAC using a student account, you will need your student's student ID number and computer log-in password.  

To create a parent account (to set up alerts, etc), you will need to contact your child's school administrative assistant.

If you would like to volunteer, you will need to fill out an online volunteer application.  Click on Volunteer Connect on the home page to access the application.  You will go through an approval process and be contacted when you are approved.  Volunteer approvals are valid for 12 months. 

Volunteer opportunities will be posted on the Volunteer Connect portal. 

Suffolk Public Schools conducts a variety of fundraisers throughout the year to raise money for various causes. Below are approximate dates for the fundraisers, as well as a brief description of the goal of each fundraiser.

October: United Way Foundation

According to the United Way of South Hampton Roads, "...the only people meeting our local needs – shelters for children, programs for the disabled, meals for the low-income elderly – are those who live here in South Hampton Roads. If we don’t help our most vulnerable neighbors, no one else will." 

January/February: Jump Rope for Heart

According to Jump Rope for Heart, "Kids can attend exciting fundraising events where they learn heart healthy skills, have fun jumping rope or shooting hoops, and raising money for the American Heart Association."

February: Suffolk Education Foundation

According to the Suffolk Education Foundation, "The mission of the Suffolk Education Foundation is to support Suffolk Public Schools by connecting the community’s talents and resources to expand educational opportunities for students and staff."  SEF helps to provide scholarships and grants to Suffolk students and educators every year.

March: March of Dimes

According to March of Dimes, "March of Dimes leads the fight for the health of all moms and babies. We believe that every baby deserves the best possible start. Unfortunately, not all babies get one. We are changing that."
